Summer Selfies

I had the idea for this layout, earlier in the month, and the foundation paper I have used was perfect for four (there are many, many more :0) ) selfies of our daughter and her husband on honeymoon earlier this summer. Like most people of their generation they are always taking photos and I am only too pleased when they forward them to me or she puts them on her Instagram page for me to download.

All papers were from the Paige Evans Splendid Paper Pad but I have referenced the paper number, on the single sheets in this range, to help identify which ones I have used. For this layout I started by trimming along the outer white stitch lines of the reverse of paper 6.

Then I used a paper piecer to prick stitch lines between all the squares and used white thread to backstitch the pricked holes.

I chose 8 papers and cut a 2 ¾ in square from each. I cut each square, diagonally, to make two triangles and added a triangle to each of the 16 squares. I added faux stitching around each triangle with a white pen.

I printed four photos measuring 3in square and trimmed them down slightly. These were added to my page with one on each horizontal row. I added the word ‘Summer’ to the first photo and ‘Selfies’ to the last one using Splendid Thickers.

Next was the fun part – filling all the squares, without photos, with lots and lots of embellishments. I used fussy cut pieces from papers #23 and #24, die-cuts, stickers and swatch book pages.

I really like how this turned out and how busy it looks.
