Oh Happy Birthday by NICOLA CAMPBELL

Hi everyone,

Nicola here sharing my next layout using the September 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around Uniquely Creative's Oh So Lovely collection. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found here.

I used the reverse side of the Oh Pretty Thing patterned paper, which comes in the add-on kit, as my background, and built a staggered frames pattern behind my photo - the biggest frame (the darkest pink one) was fussy cut from the Oh My Darling patterned paper from the main kit, the rest came from the Oh So Lovely Creative Cuts pack (linked in the supplies list below; a great extra you can use with these kits to give you some extra ephemera options). I backed my 4x6 photo on the lighter side of Fuchsia cardstock from the main kit and placed it in the centre of my layout.

I took some of the flower clusters from the Creative Cuts pack, as well as one that I fussy cut from the Oh My Darling patterned paper, and tucked them around my photo - I didn't have enough to go around as they were so I cut them down the middle to make them go further (no sense losing half the flowers behind the photo). I also placed some of these halved flower clusters around the edges of my background paper to help tie the layout together.

I cut the pink document clip from the Oh My Darling patterned paper and raised this on foam at the top of my photo, with one of the solitary roses from the Creative Cuts pack poking out from behind it. Then I scattered some of the Little Birdie Natalia flowers around in the gaps (you get 6 flowers in the add-on kit, I've also linked some full packs below if you want to stock up as they make lovely little finishing touches to go with this collection).

I fussy cut 3 butterflies from the Oh Lovely patterned paper (linked below) and placed one on the top left corner of my photo, one on the bottom right of my photo, and one with the halved flower cluster in the bottom right corner of the page. I picked ones that had bright yellow colours in them because I wanted to bring in a bit of yellow to try and help direct your eyes to my great auntie's yellow top (it was her birthday but she ended up being the furthest back in the photo the waitress took for us, so I wanted to find a way of playing on the colours to kind of offset that and help pick her out of the photo).

For each butterfly, I put foam strips along the outer edges of the wings and glued down the middle to give their wings a 3D effect. Lastly, I used a "Oh Happy Birthday" title piece from the Creative Cuts pack as my page title and placed it, raised on foam, along the bottom edge of my photo, covering the gap between 2 of the frames.
