Little Things by NICOLA CAMPBELL

Little Things by NICOLA CAMPBELL

Hi everyone,
Nicola here sharing my second layout using the October 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Timeless Harmony collection. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found here and you can subscribe to both kits as a bundle here.
I've used a sheet of Encore Paper Alabaster cardstock (you get one sheet in the main kit) as the base for my layout and then I cut 3 circles using an Xcut Circle Cutter (but you could always use a compass, some circle templates, or even plates to make circles) - I cut a 19-cm circle out of the Timeless Memories patterned paper (which I bought as an extra), a 21-cm circle out of the Encore Paper Mediterranean cardstock (main kit), and a 23-cm circle out of the Beautiful Life patterned paper (main kit). I distressed the edges of my 3 circles using a Tim Holtz paper distresser and stuck them one inside the other, leaving a 1-cm border of the 2 larger circles showing behind the smaller circles in the stack. I added some green splatters using Distress Oxide Evergreen Bough (apologies for lack of intermediate stage photos; I was working on this layout after dark and the light wasn't good enough for photos, which is increasingly the case at this point in the year).
To start off my embellishments, I took one of the large flower clusters from the Timeless Harmony Floral Bits & Pieces pack (which I bought as an extra to my kits because I love floral elements and butterflies) and raised it on foam strips over the top left edge of my circle stack - the flower cluster got a bit lost in the floral pattern of the inner circle when they were both on the same dimension, so raising it on foam gave that better definition between the two.
I printed my photo as 6x4 but chopped it down to 5x4 to remove some of the excess sky and trees at the top as this made the focus of the photo feel more central in the frame. I backed my photo on the Encore Paper Meadow cardstock from the main kit and placed it over the bottom right edge of my stacked circles, diagonally opposite from the raised flower cluster. Then I embellished around my photo by adding some more flowers from the Floral Bits & Pieces pack (the flower clusters tucked behind the photo are one piece cut in half so I could spread it out), an old-style camera from the Timeless Harmony Chipboard Pieces pack (again, bought separately to add to my kits), and the "little things" ribbon sticker from the Timeless Harmony cardstock stickers - basics, which is raised on foam strips.
To add some finishing touches, I pulled out an old Simple Stories Simple Vintage Weathered Garden sticker book from my stash, as that collection had some similar colours in it, and scattered a few of the small butterflies around the clusters on my page (Timeless Harmony does have some beautiful butterflies in it, but they were all a bit big for what I wanted on this occasion). The "so very grateful" postage mark sticker (tucked behind the flowers on the right side of my photo) and the little black "friends" tab are both from the Weathered Garden sticker book as well. Lastly, I added some tiny adhesive gems in different shades of green in groups of 3 to add that little bit of sparkle.
I hope this has given you some inspiration for the October 2026 kits and I look forward to bringing you more layouts very soon. In the meantime, there's lots of crafty inspiration available on the Mad Scrapper blog, so do pop over and take a look.
Happy crafting! x
