It's A Girl! by SUE CREASE

It's A Girl! by SUE CREASE

Hello!

Here I am sharing with you all a 1st for me, it's an altered frame. I have seen many of these done but mostly using embroidery hoops I didn't have one to hand but I did have this hoop which I bought from my local-ish craft store. So I thought I'd give it a try. Have to say I'm pretty pleased with the outcome if I do say so myself!   I have made this for The Mad Scrapper Blog
I started with a piece of Coral Cream — The Mad Scrapper by Bazzill which I gutted a rough circle out of the centre keeping the rest back for another project. I glued it to the hoop and let it dry.
Then I chose my patterned papers from Echo Park  "welcome* baby* girl there are so many to choose from but below shows you my choice.
From the  Sweet Baby Girl paper I cut a slightly smaller circle and added HEAVY GESSO WHITE  through my Finnabair Stencil- Iris Tapestry and sprinkled glitter on it before it dried. Then I stitched around the edge in corresponding thread finishing it off with my Tim Holtz Paper Distresser — The Mad Scrapper
I added this to the coral now attached to the hoop using foam to give it lift. Then I took out lots of things from my stash or that I had fussy cut from the papers from this collection or similar coloured ones from others.
I also pulled out lace, ribbon and crocheted doilies, oh and some Cheesecloth too. The It's a Girl is off the  3"X4" Journaling Cards which I have added to an ATC Frame Set #2  after I have embossed in white and a smattering of pink powder.
This next photo shows I have chosen to add 2 more circles to the hoop from the Bundle of Joy paper (out of stock at the moment) I used both sides cutting out a few extra baby vests too. If you were making this for a boy the paper is available at the time of typing this.
I added some pink lace across the middle of the frame and to that the white pompom ribbon. Then I added the circles after lifting them too on foam. Over the centre of those I added the beautiful white lace and then I set to embellishing the rest of the hoop.
You can see I have added flowers from 49and Market in  Ballet Slipper and Roses from Green Tara . I have also added a drinking straw and a couple of buttons, one of which is the tiny feet.
The Sometimes the Smallest is a sticker from Little Dreamer Girl Sticker Book , there are some lovely things in there which I mounted on to a tag I made from a scrap of the papers used.
Here you can see a couple of the vests along with some tabs I made and a butterfly and several folk hearts from the Simple Vintage Cottage Fields Cardstock Stickers . As I said before they all seem to work so well together.
Other items I have used are Finnabair Clear glass beads, Finnabair Melange Art Pebbles - Clear and Scor-Tape - 1/4" Double Sided Tape .
To finish off this project I added glitter to the flowers and some baby pink Nuvo Drops. The thread to the tag is at least 20 years old, I bought it when I first started crafting!!
Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you feel inspired to create something similar for any occasion. Don't forget to pop over to The Mad Scrapper  because you know you'll find lots to tempt you there.

Take care,

Sue.
