Dragonfly fairy altered box by LOUISE CROSBIE

Dragonfly fairy altered box by LOUISE CROSBIE

Hi there.
Today’s project is a decorated box. The box is one of those bargain stationary shop basic wood boxes which are always ideal for altering and decorating to turn them into something a bit more special.

For this box, I firstly added texture paste through a stencil then glued on my resin pieces.
I gave it all a couple of light coats of black gesso. Then I dry brushed with white to get highlights.
The colour was added using liquid acrylics which are translucent. This means they show brighter over the white highlights and darker over the black gesso.
I’ve added sparkle to the “fairy” by using effect pastes, glitter and metallique wax.
It’s quite an easy process that only needs a little practice but it makes a huge difference to a £3 wooden box.
