May Layout 2 by Nicola Campbell

May Layout 2 by Nicola Campbell

Hi everyone,
Nicola here sharing my next layout using the May 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around Bo Bunny's Colorful Story collection. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found here.
I splattered the Bazzill White cardstock (you get one sheet in the main kit) with a combination of Distress Oxide Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina. The tools I used are linked in the supplies list below.
I cut a couple of 1.5-inch strips from the Collage paper (main kit) and one from the Butterflies paper (add-on kit) and then cut these in half to give 6-by-1.5-inch pieces. For this layout, I'm using the B-sides of these sheets (i.e. the purple flowers side of the Collage paper and the diamond pattern side of the Butterflies paper) facing up. I distressed the edges of these strips and then stuck 3 purple flower strips and 2 diamond strips in alternating rows to my splattered cardstock. The strips are positioned left of centre horizontally.
I backed my 6x4 photo on the Bazzill Heather cardstock (main kit) and stuck this in the middle of my layout (so the patterned strips stick out the lefthand side of the photo) at a slight angle. To embellish the top left corner of my photo, I tucked the aqua-coloured ticket from the ephemera in my add-on kit (you get a small selection; designs vary) behind the corner and then fussy cut a couple of the cardstock stickers in my main kit (you get ½ a sheet and it's lucky dip of 1 of 4 selections) and stuck these in the corner over my photo. The "Love" phrase box was cut from an oval sticker that said "Love This Life of Mine" and the butterfly was part of small banner sticker, but I just cut away the bits I didn't want. The butterfly is raised on foam strips.
To embellish the bottom right corner of my photo, I used a couple of little banner flags from the cardstock stickers, 2 flower stickers (the white one was fussy cut from the oval frame piece, but I only wanted the flower), and tucked all of these behind my photo, then added a black and white butterfly from the ephemera selection over the top, raised on foam strips. To finish, I tucked the "relax" phrase strip from the cardstock stickers behind the butterfly's wing and then found some appropriately coloured adhesive gems from my stash to dot around my embellishment clusters.
I hope this has given you some inspiration for the May 2026 kits and I look forward to bringing you more layouts very soon. In the meantime, there's lots of crafty inspiration available on The Mad Scrapper blog, so do pop over and take a look.
Happy crafting! x
