So PROUD of you

So PROUD of you

So PROUD of you

Lovely pastel shades in the March kit, Studio Light – Sweet Flowers paper range.  Instantly, I wanted to use it all!  I love all the colours, lines and shapes in this paper.

For this layout, I used a photo of my son after he passed his driving test in October last year.  As we work our way through another lockdown, its great to be reminded of some of the things we did achieve last year!  This was a momentous achievement for my son after having months of disappointment with cancelled test dates.   Passing his driving test lifted his spirts and gave him the freedom he longed for…. 5 months on I still have lots of ‘new driver mummy anxiety’ but that’s for another layout!

Base – Bazzill Raven 12 x 12”

Top Base – Bazzill White cut 11 ½ x 11 ½” – corners rounded

Using the following papers, I cut strips of each 1 x 11”

SCRAPSFL61 – Yellow side

SCRAPSFL63 – Black & White side

SCRAPSFL62 – Peach side

SCRAPSFL60 – Grey & White side

SCRAPSLF62 – Green side

For the photo matt I cut

Bazzill Raven 9 ¾ x 7 7/8”

Bazzill Whirlpool 9 5/8 x 7 ¾”

SCRAPSFL61 – Black & White Grid side - 9 3/8 x 7 ½”

Top photo matt I cut

Bazzill Raven 8 ¼ x 6 ¼”

SCRAPSFL60 – Green Wish side – 8 x 6”

Starting with the Bazzill Raven, I placed the Bazzill white on top after cutting out the corners using a corner punch.  Working from the right side, I placed my 5 strips starting around ¼” from the edge of the paper – showing an 1/8” of Raven, and 1/8th of White.  I started with Green, then Grey & White, Peach, Black & White finishing with Yellow.

I made a large photo matt for this single layout, placing Raven, Whirlpool then Black & White grid.  On top of that I placed more Raven then my most favourite paper the Green Wish.

Photos

My main photo of Euan is cut down to 3 ¾ x 4 ½”, matted with Raven.

For fun, I took a photo shot of the text Euan had sent me after he passed his test, I loved it and wanted to remind him of that moment.  I also love the fact that we record the day, date and time.   This photo I cut down to 2 ½ x 3 ¼” again matted with Raven.

I placed my main photo to the right-hand side, laying this squint across the two matts.  The smaller photo I placed to the left-hand side.

Journaling

From the kit I used the grid paper cutting this down to 2 x 3” matted with Raven.  From my stash I added some Blue and Green Glitter Stud embellishments to create a hanging sign effect, drawing lines with my black micron pen.

Title & Embellishments

For my Title I used Dusty Attic – So PROUD of you – painted with the Light Turquoise matte paint I received with the kit.  This paint was nice and thick to use.  I used my sponge and inking tool to paint, using a brush to do the edges.  I placed the title at the top left-hand corner.

From the kit I used a piece of the bright pink ric-rac and placed this down the left-hand side of my page.

Finishing off, I added some quotes from the Tim Holtz Quote Chips, and from my own staff I added some Hash Tags, painting them with the Light Turquoise paint and outlining them once dry with my black micron pen.

On every layout I always try to remember and add the range of the paper.  I find these days as my memory starts to fail me…..this is most helpful when I look back.  I added some rhinestones this month!

A quick and simple layout.
