November canvas by LOUISE CROSBIE

November canvas by LOUISE CROSBIE

I decided to use some of the paper and embellishments for this months kit on a canvas.
I really liked the little leaf and flower pattern on one so I featured that. I’ve also used one of the left over wooden Stamperia clocks from a previous Scrapaholix kit.
I glued the piece of paper I wanted to feature on to the canvas then let it dry. When it was dry I used sandpaper to soften the edges and blend it a bit.
Then I put some modelling paste through a stencil on to the canvas in random patches but mostly on the opposite side to the flower and leaf pattern in the paper.
I used some magicals pigment powders, with sprayed on water, to start building my colour and to give the canvas a mixed media vibe.
A resin frame was painted with gesso then also given some sprinkles of magicals followed by a watered down colour wash of coral paint. It was finished off with some waxes.
I built up my focal point around the frame by using flowers and leaves. I tinted all the leaves with Carmine paint, Firebird wax and Vintage Gold wax so they had a slight autumn vibe.
When the glue had dried I dry brushed white gesso over everything. I kept the brush pretty dry and added the white in very light layers one at a time till I was happy. It’s no use going in heavy handed for this soft look.
The Pearl beads are from an old necklace. I buy necklaces from charity shops or jumble sales if they have attractive beads I think I could use. I have a few jars filled with different colour tones.
I added paint splatters in ochre/yellow and white then finished up with a light dusting of clear fine glitter (glamour dust).
