July Scrapaholix kits - Wonders and Sticky Embossing Powder

Kits have been sent out to our kit subscribers in time for the weekend for those planning on doing some crafting! Although some are perhaps not, depending on how much sunshine we are blessed with - up here in Scotland, hmmm, I'm not holding my breath!

The technique this month is to learn how to use the sticky embossing powder with foil flakes. I came across this product when watching one of Finnabair's tutorials on Facebook, and I thought it was pretty awesome. In fact there is a whole YouTube video on using the foil flakes here if you like them. It runs for about an hour and a half, so make a cuppa before sitting down. The bit you want to see about using the Sticky Embossing powder starts about 45 minutes in to it.

The sticky embossing powder, is like powdered glue - when you apply it, it is a powder, when you heat it, it melts and becomes glue, then when it cools it will become solid and no longer sticky.

So, to use the sticky embossing powder, you will need embossing ink (supplied in an earlier kit) and also available here. This comes in the form of an ink pad or my favourite, the Emboss-it Dabber. Actually you can even get this powder to stick to any Distress Ink too!

One great idea of using these products is to stamp with it - ink up your stamp with embossing ink, stamp your image, then sprinkle the sticky embossing powder over the stamped image. Heat with your heat tool until the powder is melted, then you will be left with a sticky stamped image, to which you can apply the foil flakes. Press down lightly on the foil and let it sit for a few moments to ensure the foil sticks well. Brush off the excess with a dry brush, and you have a beautiful foiled stamped image!

This technique can also be used to add foil to chipboard, wooden and other embellishments.

Try using the sticky embossing powder through a stencil, and adding foil flakes or foil sheets or even glitter to get some fantastic results! If you are doing a beach themed page, try sand! Yes, it will work!!
