Hello Winter by JACKIE BURTON

Hello Winter by JACKIE BURTON

For my layout from the Winter kit, I have gone back to scrapping a double page layout. I used papers and cardstock from both the main kit and the add on kit and inked all the edges of the papers with frayed burlap.

I used two sheets of Typhoon cardstock for my base. I then cut a sheet of Magic Snowflake in half, so the two pieces measured 6”x12” and cut two pieces from Icy Snowflakes measuring 4”x12”. I attached a thin border of Blackberry Swirl to the top of the two Icy Snowflakes pieces and to the bottom of the two Magic Snowflakes pieces and then laid these on top of the Typhoon cardstock, Icy Snowflakes at the top and Magic Snowflakes at the bottom leaving a 1” border of Typhoon at the top. I cut a snowflake border on my silhouette cameo from a piece of Rain, Typhoon and Magic Snowflake and placed over the join of Icy Snowflakes and Magic Snowflakes. I created a tag using one of the 4x4 journaling cards and layered this on Rain and Typhoon. I used two 4”x6” photos (portrait) and two 4”x3” photos (landscape). I placed these on photo mats created from Typhoon leaving a 1/16" border and then layered these on top of avalanche leaving a ⅛” border and two pieces cut from the reverse side of Icy Snowflake measuring 47/8”x73/8” and 85/8”x73/8”. I then placed these on top of the Icy Snowflakes and Magic Snowflakes pieces and bordered these top and bottom with borders cut from 4x6 Journaling Cards. I tucked the bottom right-hand corner of the tag behind the snowflake border and placed it so that it overlapped the photo mat slightly on top as in the picture and attached organza and snowflake ribbons from my stash. I then added two 4”x3” photos (portrait) angled to the side of the photo mat on the left page.

For the snowflake I first painted it with gesso and then with White pearl. Next I mixed some white pearl with a small amount of Magic Pond and gently sponged the edges of the snowflake with the mixed paint. I added silver and blue rhinestones to the snowflake cut from the rhinestone strips and added the snowflake to the layout using 3d Zots. I cut two pine branches on my cameo from white glitter cardstock and layered one of these behind the snowflake. I die cut a filigree poinsettia from white glitter cardstock and metallic pearl blue cardstock and finished this with a larger blue rhinestone in the centre and pop dotted the flower in the centre of the snowflake and placed another pine branch behind the flower but on top of the snowflake. I then created a smaller flower using the same blue metallic pearl cardstock and added one of the snowflake stickers to the centre and a blue rhinestone in the centre and placed two more pine leaves behind the flower which I had cut from the pine branches before attaching them to the filigree flower and snowflake. I then cut the winter memories banner from one of the 4x6 journaling cards and pop dotted this to towards the bottom of the right page. I finished off by adding blue and silver rhinestones to the top left corner on the left page and bottom right corner on the right page.

I wish we had more winters like this!
