Royal Windsor by NICOLA CAMPBELL

Hi everyone,
Nicola here sharing my next layout using the August 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around the Family Stories collection by Mintay Papers. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found here.
This is my next layout documenting photos from an evening at Royal Windsor Racecourse with friends and I used Paper 2 from the add-on kit as my background. I had this idea that the embroidery hoops on the paper would make good frames so I fussy cut the middles out of them, leaving the overhanging flowers in place.
The photo sizes for the apertures this created are 5 by 5 inches for the 2 bigger hoops and 3.3 by 3.3 inches for the smaller hoop in the centre. I added a few extra icons fussy cut from Paper 9 (main kit) around the edges of the hoops. Because the background paper does much of the work for this layout, I didn't need to add much (just a few select icons).
When I was positioning my photos in the fussy cut apertures, I realised there wasn't a way of getting my photo in the top hoop without the cluster of flowers covering up my husband's face, so to fix that I fussy cut the flowers out and moved them out of the way, making sure they still obscured the gap they left in the hoop. I also raised them on foam strips so that it looked more like an embellishment choice than a necessity.
Then, so that there were some other flowers on the same dimension, I fussy cut a few flowers out of Paper 10 (add-on kit) and raised them on foam around the smaller central hoop.
To finish, I used some old rose pink Thickers puffy stickers from my stash to spell out my title (the name of the racecourse) - I think the colour matches really well with the Family Stories collection.
I hope this has given you some inspiration for the August 2026 kits and I look forward to bringing you more layouts very soon. In the meantime, there's lots of crafty inspiration available on the Mad Scrapper blog, so do pop over and take a look.
Happy crafting! x
