Junk Journal Cover by LOUISE CROSBIE

I’m sharing my junk journal cover with you today.
I’ve used the cover of an old hard back book and removed all the pages (I’ll use those for journalling and backgrounds for mixed media etc).
I replaced the book pages with junk journal style pages I put together using old scrapbook paper, sheet music, old newspaper etc etc.
Today I’m just sharing the decoration of the outside cover.
I started by adding some modelling paste through a Dusty Attic stencil. Then I put a few bits of lace on it for added texture and composition.
I layered up some resin pieces I cast using some of the Prima silicon moulds and stuck them in place, along with some chipboard, using heavy body gel medium.
Once it was dry I covered everything with black gesso. The book I used was already black so it was easy to blend it in.

Once that was dry, I dry brushed over the focal point with white gesso. I was deliberately heavy handed with it as I wanted a decent amount of white in the middle of the composition to show up the paint colours as being bright.

I used acrylic paint to add colour then did finishing touches with waxes, sequins and glitter.
