Hi everyone,
Nicola here sharing my first layout using the August 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around the Family Stories collection by Mintay Papers. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found
here.
The idea for this layout, documenting photos from an evening at Windsor Racecourse with friends, all stemmed from when I spotted the horseshoe icon on Paper 9 from the main kit.
I used Paper 6 as my background (I bought the 12 x 12 paper set as well, linked in the supplies list below, because the colours of these papers are just so lovely) as it uses the same teal shutter design that's in the background of Paper 2 from the add-on kit - my intention is these 2 papers will form my double layout spread.
I wanted to really emphasise the equestrian theme for these photos, and since there's only that solitary horseshoe icon in this collection, I opted to add a horseshoe cutfile (this one is from Hip Kit Club) which I backed in the various coloured cardstocks that come in the main kit:
-
The centres of the flowers are backed in the darker side of the Mustard cardstock
-
The petals are backed in the darker side of the Rose cardstock
-
The leaves are backed in the darker side of the Aqua cardstock
-
The body of the horseshoe is backed in the lighter side of the Mustard cardstock
-
And the inner portions of the horseshoe are backed in some grey cardstock pieces I had in my scraps drawer.
I printed my photos in 2 x 3 inch size so that I could get 4 on this layout. Then I cut tag shapes out of the coloured cardstocks (Mustard and Rose, both sides) to back my photos and placed them in a scattered row along the bottom of my cutfile. I fussy cut various icons from Paper 9 and flowers from Paper 10 and clustered them behind the bottom and sides of my row of photos.
Once these were glued down, I raised my photos on foam strips and threaded some brown twine (linked below) through the holes.
To finish, I placed a few more icons from Paper 9, including the horseshoe that inspired the whole layout, over the top of the photo tags (with foam strips behind to keep these ones on the same dimension level as the photos).
I hope this has given you some inspiration for the August 2026 kits and I look forward to bringing you more layouts very soon. In the meantime, there's lots of crafty inspiration available on the
Mad Scrapper blog, so do pop over and take a look.
Happy crafting! x
