Gone Fishing by NICOLA CAMPBELL

Hi everyone,

Nicola here sharing my second layout using the June 2026 Scrapaholix Kits, which are based around the Memoir range from Maja Design. The blog post walking you through the contents of both the main and add-on kits can be found here.

I started by tearing some strips out of the Humorous and Poetic papers (both from the add-on kit) - I tore them at slight angles rather than perfectly horizontal so that once layered up, they give a criss-cross effect. I layered these along the top and bottom edges of a white cardstock base (you get one sheet of Bazzill White in the main kit; I have also linked a pack of white cardstock below, because we can never have too much of that, right?) with the neutral floral side of Poetic on top along each outer edge then, working inwards, the green side of Humorous tucked underneath it, and finally a thin strip of the leafy side of Humorous tucked underneath the edge of the green side.

This layout is documenting our son's first go at fishing along with daddy and uncle (also their first time fishing), so I opted for three 3x4 photos - one each of my husband and brother-in-law's first catches, and Spud didn't want to handle his fish, so I've included a photo with his certificate they gave him at the end. I stuck them in row in the centre of the white space - the 2 photos on either side are backed on the Bazzill Dotted Swiss Sandbox cardstock (main kit) and the central photo is backed on the Bazzill Lagoon cardstock (also main kit).

To embellish, I clustered one of the flowers from the add-on kit together with some fussy-cut elements from Mintay Papers By The Lake 09 Elements from my stash. I raised the dragonflies and the lily pad on foam strips (linked in supplies list below) and stuck the flower down with a foam dot (also linked below) for extra dimension.

To finish, I picked some small puffy alphas (the Happy Life Thickers from the old Paige Evans Whimsical collection) out of my stash and selected my letters in different shades of green to make my title "Gone Fishing!"
