Cherish This Moment - Altered Embroidery Hoop by KAREN MOSS

I sometimes like to dabble in a little altered art and decided that I would like a decorated embroidery hoop and that the diecuts and laser cuts from 49 and Market's Botanical Buzz would be absolutely perfect for this.

I started with a piece of Botanical Buzz Solids #3 and drew around my hoop (from Hobbycraft). I wanted to ink a honeycomb pattern onto the paper but didn't have a suitable stencil but then remembered that there were honeycomb pieces in the die-cut pack so used one of these as a stencil, inking on the back so that I could still use the front but in fact my Fossilized Amber ink was the perfect match and once finished I couldn't tell what side I had inked and what side I hadn't.

After securing the paper into my hoop, I started to build up my layers using hexagonal frames from the die-cut pack and cutting my 4" x 4" photo to fit. I build a little scene at the bottom of the hoop using a mixture of laser cuts and die-cuts, using foam pads to give it lots of dimension.

At the top of my page I added a little bee hive, some white daises and two brown flourishes, all from the laser cut pack.  Also a chipboard title and phrase.

To finish I added yellow paper flowers along the bottom left of the frame.

Supplies Used:

Botanical Buzz - Solids #3
