Blueprint for Life by LORI WOODS

Hello Mad Scrapper! Today I have a mixed media piece for you that was inspired by a bottle of distress spray. The colour name of the spray is Blueprint and it made me wonder how I'd go about recreating a blueprint drawing in a mixed media style. I hope you like the results!
I started with the background and used Tim Holtz stencils and various media pastes to create texture. I then added Dusty Attic chipboards to create the base of the blueprint design. Everything was given a quick coat of white gesso and then I began to assemble the larger gear elements.
Once everything was dry I used the Tim Holtz distress spray to start laying down the colour layer. I added a few drops of distress oxide ink and liquid acrylics to create areas of light and shadow, and then dry brushed everything with white gesso. Rust pastes were added to create some areas of interest and the whole piece was finished off with a few touches of wax.

I have a video for you here https://youtu.be/5VPnPdFZsvM and here's the list of ingredients if you'd like to try any of the techniques on your own projects :)
