Altered Tin by LOUISE CROSBIE

Altered Tin by LOUISE CROSBIE

Hi there.
I’ve altered this little tin as my first project for July.  It’s about 5 inches tall and it was originally a 1940s (?) cigarette tin I picked up at a bric-à-brac stall for £4.
It had a nice bit of advertising on the lid but it featured a butler holding a tray full of cigarettes.
The colour was nice though so I used clear gesso to let it show. I covered most of the ‘cigarette wielding’ butler with resin elements but you can still see his black jacket showing below the bird.
I used its original faded yellow as my starting point for colour and just added to it using yellows and rusty tones. And I used rust paste to make it look nice and old.
Some metallique wax helped add a little touch of contrasting colours to the bottles and the bird.
Now I’m going to have to work out what I want to do to the inside.
